Volleyball Gets Back on Track with 3-0 Sweep

Box Score | Season Stats

MARYVILLE, Mo. - - Sophomore Megan Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) hit .619 and led the No. 18 Truman volleyball squad with 14 kills, as the Bulldogs handed Northwest Missouri State a 3-0 (-19, -23, -18) defeat on Friday night.

In the battle of regionally-ranked squads, the Bulldogs hit .312 as a unit and had three players in double-figures offensively, led by Sharpe's 14 putaways. Junior Molly Sinclair (St. Louis, Mo., Ursuline Academy) added 12 kills and hit .242, while senior Allison Barker (Racine, Wis., Racine Lutheran) notched a double-double with ten kills and a team-high 13 digs.

The Bulldogs (24-7, 13-6 MIAA) rarely trailed all night, using a late-set run in the opening frame to pick up the six-point victory before getting out to early leads in the second and third sets. The worst the squad hit in a set was .257 while coupling that with a defense that held Northwest (15-13, 11-8 MIAA) to just .152.

Senior Ashley Petak (Omaha, Neb., Bellevue West) led all Bulldogs with 27 assists, and senior libero Casey Bruno (Pearland, Texas, Lutheran South) added nine digs.

Truman, the current No. 3 team in the region, closes the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 13) night at Missouri Western. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
