Volleyball Causes Griffons Grief in Regular Season Finale

Box Score | Season Stats

SAINT JOSEPH, Mo. - - All 14 of Truman volleyball's active players saw the floor in the 2010 regular season finale, as the Bulldogs cruised to a 3-0 (-21, -21, -15) victory at Missouri Western on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (25-7, 14-6 MIAA) hit .257 as a unit and were led offensively by senior Allison Barker's 13 kills. She was the only player in double-figures for the match but was helped offensively by junior Molly Sinclair's eight kills and six apiece from sophomores Emily Briseno and Lauren Radix.

Truman hit .345 in the first set then forced MWSU (12-17, 8-12 MIAA) into nine hitting errors in the second to jump out to a 2-0 match lead. Then, in the final frame, the Bulldogs put down 15 kills – their set-high for the evening – and sided out at an 80% clip to halt any Griffon rallies and ease to a ten-point set victory.

Senior Casey Bruno led the purple and white with 16 digs, while sophomore Megan Sharpe accounted for two solo blocks and four block assists to take top defensive honors at the net. The 'Dogs out-blocked MWSU 8-6 for the match.

Having entered the week as the South Central region's No. 3 seed, the Bulldogs appear poised to compete in their 11th consecutive postseason and 12th in program history next week. The official selection show will take place via a webcast on NCAA.com at 9pm (Central) on Sunday evening with play likely to begin on Thursday (Nov. 18) afternoon.
