Bulldogs Swept in Top-25 Battle

Box Score | Season Stats

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - The 16th-ranked Truman volleyball squad fell 3-0 (-19, -16, -20) to No. 8 Central Missouri on Wednesday night. Senior Allison Barker (Racine, Wis., Racine Lutheran) hit .350 with eight kills, while fellow senior Ashley Petak (Omaha, Neb., Bellevue West) added an assist-dig double-double with 15 assists and 13 digs.

The Bulldogs (23-6, 12-5 MIAA) fell behind early in each of the three sets and mustered just a .136 hitting percentage on the night against the Jennies (25-4, 15-2 MIAA), who were led by Allie Huffman's 11 kills. Truman's highest hitting set was a .179 clip in the third and was fueled by a late set run that closed an eight point gap to just three. But UCM bounced back, taking three of the final four points to hand the 'Dogs their fifth conference setback of the season.

Barker's eight kills were a team-high, but sophomore Megan Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) was right behind her with seven kills on a .438 attack percentage. Sharpe and sophomore Lauren Radix (Black Earth, Wis., Wisconsin Heights) tied with three blocks apiece, and senior Casey Bruno (Pearland, Texas, Lutheran South) added ten digs.

UCM hit .277 behind Huffman's 11 kills and eight from Bradye Peniston.

Truman wrapped up its home season with the match and will close the regular season on a three-match road trip, starting Saturday night (Nov. 6) at Nebraska-Omaha. The match has been moved back one hour to a 5 pm first serve in Omaha.
