KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman men's soccer team ended the 2011 regular season after falling to #6 Rockhurst University (Mo.), 2-1.
It took Truman only two and a half minutes to put a goal on the board as Andy Chapman found the net on a breakaway. Chapman's goal marked his sixth of the season and his goal was unassisted.
Truman (4-13) held on to the 1-0 lead over Rockhurst (15-2-1) for almost twenty minutes until the Hawks broke away from the Bulldog defense. Nick McDonald scored his ninth goal of the season and Mark Magee earned his team high 11th assist of the year.
In the 34th minute, the Hawks found the net again with Magee scoring off a Dan Frohock throw-in. The goal marked his 11th of the season and gave Rockhurst the advantage over Truman for the rest of the game.
Both offenses were held silent in the second half with Truman goalkeeper Tyler Knierim posting three saves.
Rockhurst outshot Truman in the match 20-9 and corner kicks 11-6. Of Truman's nine shots, two of those were on goal. Chapman led the 'Dogs with four total shots.
The Bulldogs finish the 2011 campaign with a 4-13 record. Andy Chapman led the squad in goals with six and Jonny Brown finished the season with six assists.
