PELLA, Iowa – The Truman men's soccer team brought its record to 3-3 this afternoon with a road win against the Central College Dutch, 2-1.
Jonathan Brown led the Bulldogs with two goals in the match. His first goal came early in the match in the 20th minute, after the Bulldogs scored in their own goal in the 15th minute. Daniel Jack received the assist for Brown's goal. Then, in the 72nd minute, Brown connected again with the back of the net, giving the Bulldogs the 2-1 lead and Andy Chapman his team-leading third assist of the year.
Although Central (4-3) led the Bulldogs in shots 19-15, the Dutch struggled to produce any goals in the match. The Truman defense continued to hold their opponents to a low shots on goal percentage, keeping the Dutch to six shots on goal. Truman led Central in corner kicks, 7-2.
Goalkeeper Tyler Knierim tacked on five saves to bump his season total up to 23.
The Bulldogs will take five days off before traveling to face the Columbia College (Mo.) Cougars on Friday, Sept. 23rd. Kick-off in Columbia will be at 7:00 pm.
