ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Truman softball team suffered its second doubleheader sweep in as many days as the Bulldogs fell 8-0, 4-0 to No. 10 ranked Missouri Western State University on Saturday afternoon.

In game one, Truman (12-15, 1-5 MIAA) held Western (25-4, 8-0 MIAA) through the first two innings, but two costly errors in the third helped ignite the Griffon bats. Missouri Western went on to score two in each of the last four innings while holding the Bulldogs scoreless.

The two teams had a pitching duel in game two, remaining scoreless through the first four innings until four straight hits by the Griffons told the tale of the rest of the game. Missouri Western went on to score four in the fifth and would keep Truman scoreless through the remainder of the game.

Bridget Schade tallied two hits for the day, one in each game while Katie Pitts hit two singles in game two. Kelsea Dorsey earned the loss in game one after four innings pitched and two strikeouts. Kirsten Krause finished the day with four innings pitched in the second game and three earned runs.

The Bulldogs will take almost a week off of action before heading to Pittsburg (Kan.) State University for a doubleheader next Friday. The first game is scheduled to start at 3:00 pm.
