JOPLIN, Mo. - - The Truman softball team gave up just three total earned runs, but found itself on the losing end of both games in Friday's opening doubleheader at the Terri Mathis-Zenner Invitational. The Bulldogs lost a 7-2 game in the opener to Central Oklahoma before succumbing 2-1 on a walkoff sacrifice fly in the nightcap against Lindenwood.

Truman (5-6) held a 2-1 lead against UCO (10-3) in the opener, before the Bronchos scored two in the sixth and four more in the seventh off starter Kelsea Dorsey to pick up the 7-2 win. Dorsea allowed just two earned runs, as the Bulldogs committed two costly errors that led to five Broncho tallies. Ally McReynolds launched her second homerun of the season, while Liz Leath blasted her first round-tripper of 2012.

In game two, Truman fell behind 1-0 through three innings before getting on the board in the top of the fourth on a Katie Pitts RBI single. The squads went to the last of the seventh still tied at one before Lindenwood capitalized on a pair of Bulldog miscues to plate the game-winning run on a sac fly with one out. Kirsten Krause pitched the complete game for Truman, giving up just one earned run and striking out six in 6.2 innings of work, while Bridget Schade went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Pitts added two hits of her own.

Truman returns to action with a pair of games on Saturday to close out the Invitational, taking on Northeastern (Okla.) State at 10 am before closing the day with a 2 pm game against Upper Iowa.
