EDMOND, Okla. - - The Truman softball team battled the nation's No. 6 team to the final at-bat in game one of Sunday afternoon's doubleheader, but the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos used a walk-off grand slam to win game one 12-8 before running to a 9-0 win in game two.

The Bulldogs (16-21) gave UCO – winners of 27 straight entering Sunday's action – all they could handle in game one, rebounding from an early 3-0 deficit with a five-run fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead. After UCO (31-3) scored four in the sixth to regain the edge, Truman notched a three-spot in its half of the seventh to take an 8-7 lead. However, after an RBI single tied the game, UCO's top hitter, Nathalie Timmermans, belted a walk-off grand slam – her second homerun of the day and 17th of the season – to bail out the home squad. Timmermans finished the day with nine RBIs for UCO, while Mary Manley and Liz Leath both left the yard for Truman. Leath was one of four players to record two hits in the game, with Kelsey Bollman and Katie Pitts each adding a double.

Kirsten Krause started and went five innings, allowing three earned runs, with Kelsea Dorsey entering in relief for the final inning and a third.

In game two, the Bulldogs were able to muster just four hits – two coming off the bat of Pitts – as UCO picked up a 9-0 win in five innings. Pitts also added a stolen base for the 'Dogs, who return to Kirksville for nearly the entire month of April – starting Friday (April 6) with an MIAA doubleheader against Central Missouri at 2:00 pm.
