Women Win Third Straight

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Truman women's tennis rolled to their second straight 9-0 victory in conference play as they downed Missouri Western on Friday afternoon. The team is scheduled to host Southwest Baptist on Sunday weather permitting.
 
Only one doubles match was contested as Ellen Russell and Dagmar Velez won by a break at number one over Ceara Boldridge and Kayla Dysart. The other two doubles matches were 8-love scores in favor of the 'Dogs.
 
Kim Birenbaum, Jennifer Hawkins and Kati Austin did not allow a Griffon to win a game in their straight set winners. Russell was a 6-1, 6-2 victor at number one and Maggi Schutte won 6-0, 6-2.
 
The marathon match of the dual came at number two as Velez outlasted Boldridge in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 14-12 to complete the sweep.
 
Truman has now won three straight duals and improved to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in the MIAA.
