KIRKSVILLE – The Truman Tennis teams returned home to face William Jewell (Mo.) in a conference dual match on Saturday. The Bulldog men picked up a 7-2 victory while the women fell 8-1 to the Cardinals.

Truman will make the Drury University/Rockhurst University swing next weekend on the road.

Women's Recap: Playing at number one doubles, Kim Birenbaum and Marisa Thome picked up their first doubles win together as they held off Kristen Stivers and Katy Lehenbauer 8-3.

That would be the only team point for the Bulldogs. The Cardinals won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Truman falls to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the GLVC.

Men's Recap: The Bulldog men bounced back from Friday's 5-4 loss at Missouri-St. Louis to hand the William Jewell Cardinals a 7-2 defeat.

Truman won the first two doubles matches as Jake Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith won 8-5 and Joe Murphy-Baum and Kirk Schlueter took number two 8-6.

Ohlhausen won number one singles 6-4, 6-1 and Joe Murphy-Baum followed at number two with an identical score victory.

The backend of the Bulldog line-up took care of business with Adam King prevailing 7-5, 7-5 at number three, Schlueter needing three sets to defeat A.J. Naanep 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 and Mike Merchant winning at number six 6-1, 6-3.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-7 overall and moved to 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
