Women's Tennis Notches 5-4 Victory Over Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Bulldog Women's Tennis team broke their seven-match losing streak with a 5-4 non-conference victory over Missouri Western on Tuesday. Truman returns to conference play on Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against Drury (Mo.) and a 10:00 a.m. match on Saturday against Rockhurst (Mo.).
 
The Griffons held a 2-1 lead after doubles action with Marisa Thome and Elise Mousseau teaming up for an 8-6 Bulldog win at the number three spot.
 
In singles, Thome defeated Denise Chiao 6-3, 6-2 to win number three and Savannah Everett and Holly Cantalupo took the number five and six singles matches also in straight sets for the Bulldogs.
 
The deciding match was at number two singles with Truman's Lauren Jin rallying from a set down to win 6-4 and 6-2 to get the final team point for the Bulldogs. It was Jin's first match at the number two spot and her sixth straight victory on the season.
