Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener at #21 NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - - The Truman men's soccer team fell 3-0 at No. 21 Northeastern (Okla.) State on Friday night to open the 2015 regular season.

The Bulldogs (0-1) and RiverHawks (1-0) went into the break scoreless, as NSU took 10 shots to Truman's two in the first 45 minutes of action. However, out of the break, the Bulldogs had a pair of chances early, but NSU's Trevor Reed belted a shot from outside the 18-yard box into the corner of the goal for a 1-0 home team lead in the 62^nd minute.

Then, after another Bulldog flurry of shots and NSU saves, the RiverHawks countered once again when Dominic Jangoo scored in the 74^th minute for an insurance tally and a 2-0 lead. Reed converted again in the waning minutes, heading home a cross with just 2:10 left to play for the 3-0 final.

For the game, NSU out-shot the Bulldogs 18-9 overall and 10-5 on goal, with Truman being led by two shots apiece from senior Matt McMillin, senior John Lee, and junior Tyler Luebbert. Freshman Drew Orf started in goal and made seven saves in his collegiate debut.

The Bulldogs will take on No. 14 Fort Hays (Kan.) State, a 3-2 winner against Missouri S&T in Tahlequah earlier Friday, on Sunday at 11 a.m. on the NSU campus.
