BOLIVAR, Mo.  – The Truman Baseball team had their opening day spoiled by Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University as the Dogs dropped a doubleheader to the Bearcats by scores of 6-3 and 10-5. Truman returns to action on Sunday at Lincoln starting at noon.

Game 1 Recap:
A four-run fifth inning broke open a 2-1 game to give SBU a 6-3 win in the opener. Nick Agliolo put Truman on the board first with an RBI single in the fourth but the Bearcats countered with two unearned runs in their half of the same inning.

A leadoff double by the number nine hitter in the order started the four-run inning for the Bearcats. SBU sent eight hitters to the plate as a pair of singles and a walk aided in the multi-run inning.

Truman cut the lead in half with two in the sixth. Jason Priest and Brendan Trimble each singled and scored on hits by Agliolo and T.J. Wood but the Bulldogs stranded the bases loaded.

Miles Kilgore was the winning pitcher and Brian Womack picked up the save. Kilgore pitched 5.1 innings allowing three runs on seven hits and struck out five. Mark Roberts took the loss as he allowed all six runs, three earned in 5.1 innings pitched.

SBU scored half of their 10 runs in the third inning then put the game away with another big tally in the eighth in their 10-5 win in game two.

Singles by Sean Murley, Tanner Cantrell, Jeff Bouchard was followed by a two-run single from Chance Wolfe and a two-run triple by Tim Gurnow to break things open.

The Bulldogs got a run back in the third and another in the seventh. Wyatt Fones hit a sac fly scoring Jason Priest and Dave Gambino singled in Josh Abegg.

SBU scored an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh.

Truman cut the lead to one with a three-run eighth inning. Singles by Trimble and Agliolo were followed by RBI groundouts from Fones and Wood.
