KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  – A pair of come from behind wins, including a walkoff in game two gave the Truman Baseball team a doubleheader sweep over #9 Quincy in the conference opener for both teams. Saturday's continuation of the four-game series is scheduled to start at noon.

Game 1 Recap:
A six-run sixth inning and lights out relief pitching from freshman Adrian Morris and sophomore Peter Young gave the Bulldogs the 8-6 win in the first game of the series.

The Hawks got on the board first in the second when David Hayes grounded out to score Ryan Snyder from third after a leadoff walk.

Brendan Trimble doubled in the Bulldog half of the second and the first three got base hits. Trevor Bell tied the game with a single to right field scoring Trimble and Mason King got a two-out single to plate Bell for the lead.

Quincy grabbed the lead back with a two-run single by JP Meyer in the third and added three in the fifth. David Jacob blasted a two-run homer off the right field scoreboard then later Matt Hilmes singled in Jake Walters for the 6-2 lead. Morris was summoned from the pen to get the final out on two pitches.

Adam Gregorich singled to start the sixth for Truman. Bell grounded to short and was initially called out on a close play at the bag but after an appeal, it was ruled that the throw from shortstop Brynn Martinez pulled Jacob off the bag making it two-on with no outs.

Wyatt Fones moved the runners up on a groundout. T.J. Wood delivered with a two-run single up the middle to pull Truman back to within two. Wood then swiped second and King was hit by a pitch.  The Bulldogs executed a double-steal moving the tying run into scoring position. Nick Agliolo drove a 2-2 pitch through the right side tying the game.  Dave Gambino followed with a hit and Quincy went to the bullpen.

Karl Hirsch came in to relieve Jake Peterson.

Jason Priest moved up the runners on a sac bunt and Trimble came through in the clutch with a two-run single to right giving the Bulldogs the lead.

Morris worked around a two-out error in the seventh and the Hawks got out of a jam in the bottom of the inning. Fones tripled with one out and with the infield in, Martinez dove to his left to get the speedy Wood and keep the runner at third.

In the Hawks' eighth, Justin Blechle was hit with one out and following a sac bunt by Martinez, Dominic Miles grounded to Agliolo at short to end the inning.

Young was called upon to face the heart of the Quincy lineup in the ninth. Young got Jacob to fly out to left for the first out but then gave up a double to Walters. Snyder came to the plate leading the Hawks in hitting at .429 and home runs with six but grounded out to short for the second out. Meyer then battled Young on a six-pitch at bat before Young got Meyer to pop up in the infield for Gambino to secure the win.

It was Morris' first collegiate win and Young's fifth save of the season and 11th for his career.

Game 2 Recap:
Mason King's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 doubleheader sweep over the Hawks. Kent Frantz earned the victory going the distance and allowing four hits on 94 pitches.

Quincy struck first on a pair of doubles in the second inning by Matt Hilmes and David Hayes but Truman got the run back in the third on a sac fly by Nick Agliolo that scored Joey Gardner as Truman had the bases loaded with one out.

Frantz worked around a one-out double in the fourth as that was the last hit Quincy would get against the sophomore hurler.

Graham Spraker was also putting up zeros for Quincy as he held the 'Dogs to only two hits through the first six innings.

Adam Gregorich got things started for Truman in their last at bat. He hit a one-out single to right and swiped second. Wyatt Fones then singled to right and Gregorich was waved home but the throw from Ryan Snyder to Hayes was on the money and Quincy got the second out at the plate.

T.J. Wood was hit on a 1-2 pitch to put Fones into scoring position at second and extend the inning to King. On the 1-1 pitch, King laced a ball into right centerfield that scored Fones from second to give Truman the victory.
