Marvyille Defeats Bulldog Women 8-1

Women's Match: Maryville 8, Truman 1

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – In blustery winds, the Maryville Saints downed the Truman Women's Tennis team 8-1 in a GLVC match on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs will be joined by the men's squad on Saturday as they will host Missouri-St. Louis at 11 a.m.

Maura Dunn and Lauren Jin won their second straight doubles match as they grabbed Truman's lone team point at number two. The duo defeated Andrea Fandino and Lucy Horbatowski 8-6. Savannah Everett and Elise Mousseau battled back but could not over take Makenna Parker and Sarah Etter in number three doubles. The tandem lost by the same 8-6 score.

In singles, Maryville took five of the six matches in straight sets. Lindsey Schlichting dropped her first set in number three to Puck Vlaskamp 6-2 but fought and evened the match at a set apiece with a 7-5 victory in number two. The tie break went to Vlaskamp 10-5 as that was the last match on the courts.
