Missouri-St. Louis Downs Bulldog Tennis In Home Finale

Women's Match: UMSL 7, Truman 2
Men's Match: UMSL 9, Truman 0

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Tennis teams closed out the home portion of their scheduled with a pair of losses to the hands of the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday. The women fell 7-2 while the men lost 9-0. The teams wrap up GLVC play next weekend in Kansas City.

Marisa Thome accounted for both Truman points on the afternoon. Thome and doubles partner Lindsey Schlichting downed Patricia Maya and Salome Bleuler 8-3 in the number one doubles match. Then Thome rallied to take sets two and the tiebreak over Bleuler to win number two singles 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.

The Triton Men were able to claim all nine matches to pick up the victory. Gavin Hatter and Griffin Turnage were defeated 8-5 at number two doubles and Hatter pushed Alberto Maza Martin in number three singles before falling 6-1, 6-5.

The Bulldogs will close out the 2016 season next weekend in Kansas City. Truman will face William Jewell on Friday and Rockhurst on Saturday.
