QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy Hawks downed the Truman Women's Tennis team 5-4 in the fall season opener on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host Missouri Western on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Truman took two of three doubles matches for the early lead in the dual. Maura Dunn and Lauren Jin were 8-6 winners at number one and Marisa Thome and Lindsey Schlichting took number two 8-5.

Half of the six singles matches needed a third "tie-break" set for the matches to be decided. Jin forced a third set at number one singles before falling 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 while Marisa Thome fell in three at number two 6-0, 2-6, 6-4. Schlichting and Elise Mousseau grabbed singles wins at numbers three of four respectively.

Schlichting won 6-1, 6-4 while Mousseau rallied 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
