Missouri Western 5, Truman 4

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – For the second straight dual, the Bulldog Women's Tennis team took two of three doubles matches but couldn't finish off an opponent as they fell 5-4 to Missouri Western in their fall season home debut.

After being blanked by the Griffons last year, Truman staked out to a 2-1 lead with doubles wins at number two and three. Marisa Thome and Lindsey Schlichting won 8-3 and Elise Mousseau and Finessa Rassel took number three 8-6.

Rassel and Maura Dunn were victorious at numbers five and six singles in straight sets. The match hinged on the number three singles bout between Schlichting and Joanna Abreu. Schlichting took the first set 6-2 but Abreu rallied with a 6-1 and 6-2 tie break winner to take the dual for the Griffons.

Truman will compete in Quincy this weekend.
