RECAP: Truman Tennis Splits Kansas Road Swing

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Bulldog Tennis teams finished up with a 1-1 record on their journey through eastern Kansas this weekend.

Truman defeated Ottawa University in both the men's and women's duals on Friday in a match contested in Kansas City. The Men won 8-1 while the women were 6-0 winners.

The men swept through the doubles with wins. Ryan Bunselmeyer and Conner Frazier were 8-6 victors at number one. Paul Province and Gavin Hatter won 8-4 at number two and Griffin Turnage and Nick Thiele won 8-5 at number three.

Hatter won a three set match at number two singles and Province, Turnage and Frazier won in straight sets.

In the women's match against the Braves, Lauren Jin and Maura Dunn outlasted Ottawa's top team 9-8 (8-6) at number one singles and Lindsey Schlichting and Marisa Thome won 8-2. Schlichting, Dunn and Finessa Rassel were singles winners.

The all-international squad from Emporia shutout the Bulldog men 9-0 on Saturday while the Lady Hornets downed Truman 8-1. Schlichting and Thome won number two doubles by an 8-6 tally.

The Bulldogs return to action on March 25 with the start of Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Truman will travel to Quincy for a road conference dual.
