RECAP: Truman Women Take Opening Conference Dual Over Rival Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – The Truman Women's Tennis team opened up conference play with a 6-3 win over Quincy on Saturday while the men fell in their opener to the Hawks 8-1.

The women trailed 2-1 after doubles with Lindsey Schlichting and Maura Dunn picking up an 8-2 win at number one. Alexandra Rogers and Morgan Ebby dropped a tough 9-7 decision at number two and Kayla Patterson and Finessa Rassel were downed 8-6 in number three.

The tide turned in singles as Truman won five of six matches in straight sets. Schlichting was a 6-3, 6-0 winner and Dunn took a 6-0, 6-2 verdict at number. Rogers won 6-4, 6-1 at three with Rassel winning 6-1, 6-2 at five and Kaylin Albin taking a 6-4, 6-4 win at number six. The only loss came in three sets after Ebby won the first set 6-2 but lost 6-4 and the tie break 10-8.

Paul Province and Arpit Sahoo continued their strong doubles play for the Bulldog men. The duo picked up an 8-6 win over Danyil Vayser and Michael Lesko in the top doubles spot for Truman's lone team point. It was their third doubles win of the year in the number one slot.

Province battled Vayser to a 7-6 loss in the opening set of their singles match before bowing out 6-2 in set two.

The Bulldogs will travel to Rockhurst and William Jewell next weekend to continue play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
