NOTES: Streaking Bulldogs Head to USI and McKendree

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman State Men's Basketball team rolled to their fifth win in a row on Monday night as they handled Quincy 84-70 behind 28 points from Brodric Thomas and a career high 27 from Cade McKnight. With other results from around the GLVC Monday night, the Bulldogs are now in a three way tie at the top of the GLVC with current #1 Bellarmine and #18 Missouri St.-Louis at 7-1 in conference games. Furthermore, with five straight wins the Bulldogs now hold the longest active winning streak in the GLVC.

The five game winning streak has seen the Bulldogs rise to number three in the GLVC in scoring defense, allowing 66.6 points per game. Over this stretch Truman has allowed just 59.4 points per game. Furthermore the Bulldogs are sixth in the GLVC in field goal percentage against and three point shooting percentage against at .424 and .328, respectively.

After scoring 28 against Quincy, Thomas' scoring average rose to 21 points per game; which is now tied with Lindenwood's TJ Crockett for the highest in the conference. He has also moved onto the Truman leaderboard in career blocked shots with 71, currently tied for ninth in program history with Billy Daniel.

Turner Scott ranks in the top five in the GLVC in assists with 4.13 per game, with a season high seven twice—against Newman and in the home game against Quincy in December. Monday at Quincy he scored a season high 17 points, including 3-3 from downtown.

The Opponents:

Southern Indiana enters the game at 12-4, 4-4 in the GLVC. Emmanuel Little leads the team with 15.9 points per game and in rebounds with 7.8 a game. He is one of three players in the conference to be top ten in rebounds and points per game—along with Eysan Wiley from William Jewell and Daniel Soetan from Illinois Springfield.

McKendree comes into the weekend at 9-7 overall, also 4-4 in the GLVC after dropping their last two games—to Rockhurst and USI. Leading scorer Logan Kohrmann ranks fifth in the GLVC averaging 17.8 points per game and Bryson Bultman is top ten in the conference in assists with 3.5 per game and rebounds with 6.8.

Up Next:

The Bulldogs will return home as they close January with a rematch against Rockhurst on the 30th before hosting William Jewell on February 1st. They are the first two of four consecutive home games.
