CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—The Truman Tennis team had a two dual day Saturday as they competed against Coe College (IA) in the morning and then against Cornell College (IA) in the afternoon. The Bulldogs won both duals, winning 6-3 over Coe and then 9-0 over Cornell. Coach Steve Smith noted that the second doubles win against Coe really gave them the edge and Allie Brown and Akansha Negi played some of their best tennis of the year to spur the Bulldogs to a win.
Coe Singles:
First: Brown (TSU) over Maddie Schultz 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 tiebreaker
Second: Negi (TSU) over Isabella Hoppenjans 6-4, 6-4
Third: Jania Johnson over Samantha Seggerman (TSU) 6-3, 6-2
Fourth: Julia Fangman (TSU) over Emma Lassen 6-1, 6-3
Fifth: Claudia Bilkey over Kennidy Shirey (TSU) 6-1, 6-3
Sixth: Abbi Worster (TSU) over Ang Guevara 6-1, 6-3
Coe Doubles:
First: Brown/Negi (TSU) over Lassen/Hoppenjans 8-6
Second: Seggerman/Fangman (TSU) over Johnson/Schultz 8-7, 9-3 tiebreaker
Third: Bilkey/Jaden Fuqua over Worster/Rachel Shelly (TSU) 8-5
Cornell Singles:
First: Brown (TSU) over Emmaline Fievet 6-3, 6-1
Second: Negi (TSU) over Makayla Johnson 6-1, 6-0
