Truman Hosts SBU & Drury Following Road Trip

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State Men's basketball comes back home to Kirksville and Pershing Arena for games against Southwest Baptist and Drury.

The Bulldogs sit at 5-9 overall and 2-4 in GLVC following a 75-73 loss at Quincy and a massive 81-77 win at Illinois Springfield.

Against the Quincy Hawks, Kobi Williams continued his impressive freshman season with a career-high 29 points on 9-11 shooting and 6-7 from three. Williams also had a rebound, two assists, and a remarkable five steals.

Trey Shearer was the second-highest scorer for the Bulldogs with 14 on 4-12 shooting and four three-pointers made. He recorded four rebounds, and an assist.

Xavier Hall was the third Bulldog with double-digit points with 10. Hall also had five assists which was tied with Landon Eiland for the team-high.

Eiland had a team-high 11 boards along with his five assists. He also had a block and three points.

Against the Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars, Williams once again led the squad in scoring with 19. The 19 points were a game-high, and he shot 6-16 from the field and 4-8 from three.

Landon Eiland was right behind Williams in points, dropping 17 on 6-11 shooting. His nine rebounds led the team.

Xavier Hall also had another double-digit points game, scoring 15 on an efficient 6-7 shooting. He also had six rebounds.

Trey Shearer was fourth in scoring with 13 on 6-11 shooting.

Brennan Lovette led the team in assists with five.

Kobi Williams is 22nd in scoring in the GLVC, averaging 12.6 points. His 29 points against Quincy was 10th-best in the Great Lakes Valley Conference so far this year.

Landon Eiland's  5.4 rebounds per game puts him in the No. 18 spot in the conference, and Xavier Hall's 4.7 assists puts him at No. 4.

Southwest Baptist is 5-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play. They are 4-5 at home, 1-4 on the road, and 0-1 in neutral site games.

Their one conference win was a 65-62 victory at Drury on December 9th. Drenin Dinkins and David Hector led the Bearcats in points against the Panthers with 13 each. Hector had 10 rebounds to record a double-double.

SBU is on a four-game losing streak, with loss to William Jewell (89-74), at Quincy (66-50), Missouri S&T (78-59), and Maryville (83-68).  The Bearcats are currently last in the GLVC.

The Bearcats have two double-digit scorers, with Drenin Dinkins leading with 15.3 in only 11 games played. Drew McMillin is putting up 12.2 while playing all 15 games.

David Hector leads the team in rebounds by 1.3, grabbing 5.8 boards per game. Ayden Stone is at 4.5 and Noah Franklin is at 4.3

Hector also leads in assists and steals with 3.1 and 1.4 per game.

The Drury Panthers from Springfield, Mo. are 10-5 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC. They have been excellent at home in the O'Reilly Family Center, posting an 8-1 record. Their only home loss was to SBU. The Panthers have not been as successful on the road, going 0-4. They have won both of their neutral site games.

Drury's three-game winning streak have come against Rockhurst (89-79), Maryville (71-62), and Missouri S&T (89-82).

Logan Applegate and Juok Riak are Drury's best scorers. Logan Applegate is averaging 15.0 points in 15 games, and Juok Riak is puttig up 15.2 in 13 games.

Applegate leads the team in rebounds per game, grabbing 4.9 boards. He also leads in assists with 2.5, and steals with 1.7.

Following Southwest Baptist and Drury, the Bulldogs go on the road again to face Rockhurst on Thursday, January 25th at 7:30 p.m. and William Jewell on Saturday, January 27th at 3 p.m.
