KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Several strong performances opened the season for the Truman State Tennis team on Saturday as part of the Bulldogs Invitational.
Coe and Central Colleges out of Iowa joined the Bulldogs on Saturday at the Truman Tennis Courts with the event featuring nine singles flights and four doubles flights.
Sydney Dial went 1-1 after making her debut at the number one spot on the team. Dial fell 7-5, 6-1 to Sophia Fain of Coe but dropped Madi Whalen of Central 6-1, 6-2.
Akansha Negi went 1-1 in Flight 3 with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 win in her first match and fell 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in her second.
Newcomer Finley LaForge posted a pair of wins going 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in her first Bulldog match and 6-2, 6-0 in her second.
Mary Grace Seymour was also successful in her Bulldog premier with two straight set wins in Flight six.
Alayna Dostal, Cora Wood and Amelia Willing also picked up wins in their respective flights.
The Bulldogs would go undefeated in doubles action with Dial and Malangi taking two in flight one. Negi and Willing winning by identical 7-5 scores in flight two, the freshman team of LaForge and Seymore sweeping flight three and Dostal and Wood winning their flight four match.
The Bulldogs will open up their dual season on September 10th with a match against Grand View (Iowa) in Des Moines.
