The Screaming Eagles got a run back in the second on a sacrifice bunt but Truman then exploded in the top half of the third inning.

T.J. Wood led things off with a double and was moved up on a sac bunt by Larkin. Three straight singles scored a second run in the inning and when Deaton was drilled by a pitch to load the bases, USI went to the bullpen.

Trimble greeted T.J. Decker with a two-run double to right center. Joey Gardner later reached on a fielding error which compounded problems for USI. Wood singled in Trimble for another run followed by Larkin's RBI single and Hahn's two RBI double to left. Trenhaile closed the inning's scoring with a single down the third base line.

Southern Indiana fought back with the first six batters in the bottom of the third all reaching. The Screaming Eagles sent 10 to the plate with four scoring but left the bases loaded with a pair of fly outs to right field.

Neither team dented the scoreboard in the fourth inning while Truman added insurance runs with a sac fly by Trenhaile in the fifth and a Gardner single up the middle scoring Deaton in the sixth.

Cody Gardner moved to 3-0 on the season pitching six innings and striking out six batters while Peter Young finished it off with a one-hit, shutout seventh.

Frantz pitched the complete game earning his third win of the season and struck out seven in the process.
