KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—After splitting their opening two games in Ohio this past weekend, the Truman State Men's Basketball team will travel to Michigan for two games against Regional opponents. Thursday they will take on Grand Valley State in Allendale at 6 P.M. ET/5 CT and then Davenport Saturday afternoon at 3 P.M. ET/2 CT.
Brodric Thomas led the Bulldogs in scoring each of the first two contests, scoring 31 in the upset over Findlay. It was his third thirty-plus point game of his career, with the last coming against Maryville on January 19, 2019. Through two games he is shooting 16-29 from the floor (.552) and has made three three-pointers. He's also made all his first 12 attempts from the free throws. His 15 rebounds currently lead the team, one ahead of Mark Rogers and also leads the team with four steals, which is two ahead of Turner Scott and Alex McQuinn. Scott leads the team with four three pointers, while McQuinn has five blocked shots to lead the team—his four in the win over Findlay set a career high.
The Opponents:
The Lakers are 2-0 on the season after downing Alderson Broaddus 69-56 and then Davis & Elkins 84-68 in their first two games of the season. Jake Van Tubbergen leads the team with 20.5 points per game, and had a double-double against ABU with 21 points and 16 rebounds. He also leads the team in boards with 11.5 per game. In the win over D&E the Lakers had four player reach double figures in scoring with Van Tubbergen, Isaac Gassman had 15, Christian Negron had 13 and Jeremiah Ferguson dropped 12.
The Panthers are led by Robbie Bramhill, the senior forward is averaging 11.8 points per game this season after averaging 9.8 last season. Chris Rollins was fourth on the team last season with 10.8 points and leads the team in assists this season with 2.75 as well as steals with 11. So far this season the Panthers are 3-1 with wins over USC Aiken and GLVC members Rockhurst and William Jewell; while falling to #6 Lincoln Memorial. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
