TOPEKA – The Bulldog Softball team fell 5-4 after rallying to tie Washburn in the top of the seventh Friday in the opening game of the Ichabod Invitational. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Central Missouri at 1 p.m. and Wayne State (Neb.) at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Washburn struck first with a solo run in the bottom of the opening inning but Truman came right back
Callie Unrein brought in
Cameryn Patterson on a fielder's choice in their half of the second.

The Ichabods took a 3-1 lead in the third on a two-run homer to center by A Friend.

Maria McGonegle blasted a homer in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2 but Washburn would score again in their half of the fifth to make it 4-2.

Emma Walbert singled with one out in the seventh and Patterson singled with two outs to put runners at the corners.
Breianna Klein got both runners in to tie the game as two Washburn errors on the play allowed pinch runner
Emily Eberwine to score from first.

A leadoff walk followed by a pair of passed balls put the winning run at third base for Washburn. B. Francis ended the game with a triple to right center.
