Dave Lintner played football as a two-way back at Unionville (Mo.) High School. As a college freshman he played football at Central Methodist but a severe knee injury forced him to quit the game. He transferred to the university in 1947-48 and graduated in 1951. In the early 1950's he was in counter intelligence. Then, in 1953, he returned to the Bank of Kirksville where he worked as a student. Until his retirement with the Bank of Kirksville at the end of 1989, Mr. Lintner held about every position from bookkeeper to acting president. When he retired he was senior vice-president. He has been a key figure in local athletic booster organization. He was instrumental in the start of the Kirksville Baseball Association and served as the first president. Mr. Lintner was also president and treasurer of the Kirksville Quarterback Club for the university and for Kirksville High School. He officiated football games on the high school level and some on the college level for more than 30 years. But the excellent service he did which was most appreciated by Bill Cable was being the university official football and basketball statistician for 36 years. Between 1953-88 Mr. Lintner kept accurate records and filed reports for at least 185 home football games and 450 home basketball game. He also worked at a number of road games. Since his retirement he has spent a lot of time on golf courses, especially at the Kirksville Country Club.
