Dr. Delbert Maddox went to the Hannibal, Mo. Public Schools before attending the university, where he earned 10 letters in three sports-football, basketball and baseball, between 1932-36. During his four years as a football participant, the Bulldogs lost only one game. Dr. Maddox was an MIAA and second team All-State end as a senior. He received honorable mention All-Conference recognition in basketball and served as captain of the 1935-36 team. After graduation, he worked on his master's degree at the University of Missouri and helped Don Faurot with football. He taught physical education and social studies in Queen City and Memphis before entering the Navy during World War II. After the war, he was appointed to the Physical Education Staff of the university and served in that capacity until he entered the Kirksville College of Medicine from which he graduated in 1956. Dr. Maddox was appointed to the Faculty and Staff at KCOM and served in that capacity until his retirement. He then continued to see patients on a part-time basis and now holds the title of Emeritus Professor of General Practice. During his KCOM career, he held several directorships and chairmanships and has served actively in numerous professional organizations.
