Carol Enfield excelled in high school basketball, track and softball at Washington, Iowa. As a high school senior she was named the school's Outstanding Athlete. Mrs. Enfield entered the university in the fall of 1978 and etched her name in the basketball record books during the next four years. She set many school records including career scoring (2009), and was the career rebound record-holder until 1991. Mrs. Enfield was chosen for the 1982 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women's Division I All-America basketball first team, the only member a Bulldog women's basketball team to ever receive that honor. She led the Lady Bulldogs to the 1981-82 Missouri Association Intercollegiate Athletics for Women's championship. That season, the Lady Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division II regional and AIAW regional competition. Mrs. Enfield received All-AIAW Region 6 recognition three times, the first player to achieve that honor. Upon graduation from the university in 1982 she was employed by the United Presbyterian retirement home in Washington, Iowa, as activity coordinator and has continued to work there. Mrs. Enfield is the first former Bulldog female athlete to be inducted into the university Athletic Hall of Fame.
