Terry Bussard attended East Richland High School in Olney, Ill., before enrolling at the university in 1975. It didn't take him long to demonstrate he would become an impact player on the Bulldog basketball scene. He earned a starting spot as a freshman and was chosen to the MIAA honorable mention team as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, he averaged 17.2 points and was first-team All-Conference and MVP, All-District and honorable mention All-American. Mr. Bussard was the first Bulldog player to receive the conference MVP award after it was revived in the early 1970's, receiving it that season due to being the only unanimous player on the first team. He was a catalyst for the 1978-79 Bulldog team which won the MIAA title, ranked as high as sixth in the NCAA Division II poll and advanced to the South Central postseason regional. Mr. Bussard served as captain his final two seasons. When he left the university, he owned a number of school records, including career scoring (1382 points), Bulldog and MIAA career assists (582), career free-throw percentage and career games (106). He started 102 of the 106 games. Mr. Bussard graduated from Eastern Illinois University and was assistant basketball coach at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa, one year. He then was head coach at Olney Central College for four years, compiling a winning percentage of .650. In 1985 he made a career change and joined Edward D. Jones and Co. as a regional representative in Carbondale, Ill. He has also worked for Shearson Lehman Brothers in St. Louis as a financial consultant, Commerce Bank of St. Louis in the investments department and as a regional marketing representative for Sun America Marketing, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
