    Jerry Meyer was a four-sport athlete at Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, competing in football, basketball, baseball, and track, before enrolling in 1965 at the university. He lettered four years in football for the Bulldogs and was named to the All-Conference team twice as a defensive back. Mr. Meyer was a team tri-captain as a senior. He also played two years of baseball. After earning a B.S. E. degree he started graduate work in 1969 and served as a football graduate assistant and head tennis coach at the university. He then served as an assistant coach at his old high School, Elder, from 1970-77. He returned to Kirksville to be an assistant football coach at KHS. Mr. Meyer served as head football coach at the high school from 1978-89. During his tenure as head coach, the Tigers advanced to the state playoffs twice, won two conference titles and produced a number of All-Conference, All-District and All-State players. Mr. Meyer also served as assistant boys basketball coach between 1977-79 and head boys track coach for one year. Since then, he was a volunteer coach for the football Bulldogs and taught health and physical education in the Kirksville School District.
