Ralph Cavanah participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track as a student between 1933-37. He received All-MIAA football honors as a half-back in 1935 and 1936 and was second team All-State both years. Mr. Cavanah led the MIAA in scoring as a junior. He was a co-captain of the 1936 football team. After completing requirement for an undergraduate degree, he was a student assistant for Coach Fred Faurot at the university. Mr. Cavanah played professional football for the St. Louis Gunners on weekends during the 1937 and 1938 seasons. For six years he coached athletics at Lockwood, Mo., Roodhouse, Ill. and Jerseyville, Ill. After working several years in the oil business, he returned to the coaching profession in 1960 in his hometown of Marceline.
