Jim Streeter, one of the most versatile athletes in the history of Bulldog athletics, won 12 letters at the university during the late 1920's. Mr. Streeter competed four years in football, basketball and track, earning All-Conference first-team accolades three times on the gridiron. The 1929 Echo said Bulldog opponents were never able to stop his off-tackle runs, and the student publication also noted his talents as a punter. Mr. Streeter was the conference track champion in the low hurdles and served as team captain in his senior season. After graduating in 1929 he taught at Roosevelt Junior High School and at the Junior College in St. Joseph and at Milan High School. He then moved to Unionville where he taught for a year before his appointment as principal, a position he held until 1968 when he resigned to serve as principal at Maries County R-I School in Belle, Mo. Mr. Streeter died in January of 1970 at the Putnam County Nursing Home.
