Don Faurot etched a deep mark on Bulldog athletics at the university between 1926-34. During that time, a coach had to do about everything connected with his sport, including serving as team trainer, manager and bus driver. Don was Bulldog football coach for nine seasons, during which time his teams were MIAA champions seven times and compiled an overall record of 63-13-3. That record is the best winning percentage for any Bulldog football coach before or since that time. During his final three years as Truman football coach, the Bulldogs started a 27 game winning streak that extended into the 1935 season, the year after his left Kirksville. That 27 game streak is the sixth-longest victory string during the last 50 years among NCAA Division II and III teams. Don also coached successful Truman teams in basketball (seven years), track (two years) and baseball (nine years). His basketball teams compiled a 91-67 record and won the MIAA championship in 1926-27. Don left Truman in 1934 to start an illustrious career as football coach and athletic director at the University of Missouri. He was inducted into both the National Football Hall of Fame and the Missouri Hall of Fame.
