Carroll Cochran

Carroll Cochran graduated from Green City High School in 1927 and enrolled at the university the same year. He was a four-year football letterman at the center position. In 1930 he was All-Conference and second-team All-State. Mr. Cochran served as team captain in 1931. He was active in campus organizations, including the presidency of Blue Key Honorary Fraternity, and lost a close battle for student body president to James Doughtery, a member of this Hall of Fame. After graduating in 1936, he coached at Bonaparte (Iowa) High School for a year, worked for Swift and Company in Alma, Mich., for three years and Leonard Refineries in Alma for more than 33 years. Mr. Cochran was also a football and basketball official, mostly on the high school level for about 10 years. He retired in the mid-1970's.
