A graduate of Hamilton (Mo.) High School, Jeff Neal enrolled at the university in 1939. He played guard both ways on the Bulldog football team in 1939 and 1940. He entered the Air Force During World War II and was a member of the Seventh Service Command football team in Ashville, N.C. Mr. Neal returned to the campus after the war and played on the 1947 and 1948 football teams, earning All-Conference honors as a guard. He was team captain and president of the K Club. After graduation in 1948 he coached football, basketball and track for five years at Aurora (Mo.) High School. In 1952 Mr. Neal entered management training with American National Life Insurance Company. Two years later Northwestern National Insurance Company based in Minneapolis, Minn. recruited him. There he developed the home office agency training programs. In 1975 he returned to American National Life Insurance Company. Mr. Neal moved to Galveston, Texas, and directed the management program. After 32 years in the insurance he retired in 1984.
