Frank Bigsby, a graduate of Kirksville High School, enrolled at the university in 1927. He played three years of basketball and one season of football and tennis. Mr. Bigsby was a member of the 1929 All-Conference football team, helping the Bulldogs capture an MIAA championship. In 1928-29 he led the basketball team in scoring and won the state doubles tennis title. He was captain of the basketball team as a senior. Mr. Bigsby attended medical school at Tulane University from 1931-35 and practiced medicine in Chicago for a number of years. Dr. Bigsby wrote books and articles about obesity and was a pioneer in the field. During World War II, he was a captain in the Army Medical Corps. After practicing for about 40 years, Dr. Bigsby retired in the mid-1970's.
